WOOL SACK RACES, TETBURY, GLOUCESTER
Annual event held on the Monday of the Spring Bank Holiday, late in May. Wacky event where dozens of hopefuls race up and down Gumstool Hill in Tetbury town center carrying 60lb sacks of wool (35lb for the ladies). The course runs the 280 yards, between The Royal Oak and The Crown, and is a very steep 1-in-4. Street fair, entertainment, market, craft show, and a charity auction. Attendance 10,000.
