SWANAGE CARNIVAL
Annual themed carnival parade held on a Sunday late in July. Two mile route, along the sea front attracts thousands of spectators. Floats, marching rock, samba and Caribbean bands, clowns and costumed walkers. In 2008, there was a fly-past by The Red Arrows at 12:00. Prior to the procession, a parade of beach buggies, majorettes, carnival bands and clowns. Typical start time is 15:00 - north along De Moulham Road, then south along Shore Road. There is a presentation of trophies at Sandpit Field afterwards. All part of carnival week - 8 days of nearly 100 events - Red Devils, Fantastic Carnival Procession, Half Marathon, Live Music every night, dog shows and plenty more. Fireworks after dark from the jetty on several evenings. Pictures taken 27 July, 2008.
