ROTTINGDEAN SMUGGLERS NIGHT
Annual event, usually held on the first Saturday in December. Yuletide celebrations, but spiced up with the magic of Sussex Bonfire. A night of fire, noise, drumming, mayhem and costume. Torch Lit Procession and Fireworks supported by the South Heighton Bonfire Society. Local pubs compete for the honour of best dressed smugglers. Local residents can join Rottingdean Smugglers in any Rottingdean pub, or direct through the website, to march in the procession. Membership is £2, to help cover the cost of smugglers night, and allow you to carry a torch in the procession. Pictures 03 Dec 2011.
