NEW YEARS EVE, LONDON
New Years' Eve celebrations in London attract 700,000 revelers. Many of these flock to Victoria Embankment to watch the midnight fireworks at the London Eye. The intense 10 minute display at midnight traditionally costs £1.3M to stage. Giant screens in Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square relay the countdown. Lighting and projection effects from 20:00 on the Shell building. Extra toilets and first aid on Victoria Embankment and South Bank. The music of BBC Radio One is relayed along Victoria Embankment. Once Victoria Embankment fills to capacity, further access will be restricted, so aim to arrive by about 21:00. Pictures 01 Jan 2010
