MALDON MUD RACE
Annual event, held on a Sunday late in April. 11:30 Promenade Park‚ Maldon, Essex. 7‚000 spectators watch 250 competitors race through the mud of the River Blackwater at low tide. The return crossing can take an hour, and is very heavy going. Best times might be under four minutes. Spectator entry to the park is by personal donation of about £2.
