Summer time in London wouldn’t be complete without a generous helping of free arts entertainment at ‘the king of alfresco venues’, The Scoop at More London. Presenting an impressive programme of free fringe, music and award-winning theatre and film the More London Free Festival takes place at The Scoop at More London; a sunken, 1000-seater, riverside amphitheatre on the South Bank with stunning views of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.

Showcases from up-and-coming and more experimental arts organisations; Palladini Productions debut their new play ‘Citiest of Cities’, Kit Hesketh Harvey directs The Merry Opera Company’s ‘Troy Boy’ and critically-acclaimed open-air theatre company The Pantaloons present their take on ‘The Canterbury Tales’. Award-winning Chickenshed perform their hugely successful, hard-hitting production, ‘Crime of the Century’ and, for younger audiences ‘Tales from the Shed’.
Free Music - 29 June-22 July:
More than 20 different artists perform over 4-weeks every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtime and evening. Covering a huge variety of musical genres - from Latin grooves to Cuban Salsa, Jazz to vocal groups and rock to folk – the line-up includes: American songstress Nell Bryden, super-group of session musicians The AllStars Collective, singer-songwriters Mim Grey and Dean Dyson, blues band Pacifico Blues and state-of-the-art vocal harmony from Voxtet.
Free Theatre - 5 Aug-5 Sept:
Award-winning theatre company Steam Industry Free Theatre return for their ninth season performing two shows every Thursday-Sunday. Suzanna Rosenthal for Steam Industry Free Theatre present The 2011 DANGERIOUS JOURNEYS Season with Around the World in Eighty Days – freely adapted from the novel by Jules Verne and the musical by Phil Willmott and The Mother by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Mark Ravenhill.
Free Film – 14-30 September:
An uplifting and inspirational mix of classic, cult and contemporary films - rarely shown elsewhere - screened every Wed-Fri from 7.30pm. The nine films being screened over the three weeks are – Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, multi-award winning The Kings Speech and The Social Network, Dirty Dancing (which was rained off in 2010), magical animation The Illusionist, The African Queen, The Manchurian Candidate, Grease and The Coen brothers’ True Grit.
No tickets required, no need to book – just turn up and enjoy the show. Cushions are available for hire and food and drink can be purchased at the entrance.
