BRIDGWATER ILLUMINATED CARNIVAL
The annual Bridgwater Illuminated Carnival is the biggest such event in the world. Held early in November, usually on the Friday after bonfire night. Parade starts at 19:00. Part of the Somerset Carnival Ring. Many floats are 100 ft long, each illuminated by up to 30,000 light bulbs. Up to 140 floats and crowds of 150,000. Takes about 3 hours to pass any given point. Stay until about 22:45 and watch the squibbing, a unique tunnel of pyrotechnic flares, sparks and smoke stretching along the High Street. Pictures taken Friday 09 Nov, 2007.
