MAYFIELD BLACKSMITHS PARADE
Annual event held on a Saturday in mid November. Fancy
dress flaming torch parade.18:30 start at the Carpenters Arms, Fletching Street,
Mayfield, East Sussex, TN20 6TB. Sponsored by the landlord of Carpenters Arms
01435 873294. Morris dancers, street fireworks and
a hog roast, but no bonfire. The legend of St Dunstan, a blacksmith of Mayfield, and his meeting with
the Devil. Wild dances depicting the legend of St Dunstan's battle with Old Nick,
accompanied by the drummers whose increasingly tribal drumming gives the whole event incredible atmosphere.
